Brigade Area

For almost 150 years, Kyneton Fire Brigade has been protecting our local communities across a huge area that includes homes, factories, schools, aged care facilities and the ever-growing Kyneton township.

The Brigade is one four that make up the COLIBAN GROUP and is also called upon to support nearby areas as well as sending crews across the state to fight major fires and assist with floods and other events.

OUR TOWNS ARE GROWING

Kyneton and the surrounding area continues to grow. With a population of around 10,000 people and a rapidly expanding business and industrial footprint, its little wonder that the Brigade is responding to a rising number of incidents.

The Brigade also has an active fire safety education program with specially qualified teams providing school and early childcare visits and ‘hands-on’ fire safety for businesses.

100% LOCAL VOLUNTEERS

Every one of Kyneton Brigades 78 members are volunteers who study and train to provide specialist response services. When the alarm sounds, they rush from work or home, then often spending hours fighting fires, attending crashes and mopping up. Last year the members collectively spent more than 8,000 hours ‘on-the-job. Receiving little government funding, the members also are required to spend time fundraising to pay for new trucks, specialist equipment and maintenance.
