Fire Medical Response

Kyneton fire Brigade was one of the founding participants in the Fire Medical Response (FMR) program which is a partnership between the CFA and Ambulance Victoria.

Within a defined area, specially trained and qualified Brigade members respond to a range of Triple Zero calls for help including heart attacks and serious injuries. The Brigade is despatched alongside paramedics but sometimes will be the first to arrive at the scene.

The FMR responders will arrive in a fire truck or a 4WD command vehicle or SUV – Given the need to start treatment quickly, most FMR responses are carried out as a ‘lights and sirens’ priority.

On scene the FMR responders can contact the on-duty Ambulance Supervising Clinician, and they will commence resuscitation and medical care then hand over to Ambulance Victoria paramedics.
